An Lèanag

Brief: 2010 saw the decision by Bòrd na Gàidhlig to establish Gaelic Centres in Glasgow, Inverness and Stornoway. First in line was to be the Glasgow Centre comprising office areas, meeting rooms and Gaelic bookshop. Following a formal tender process, we were appointed to project manage this exciting initiative. Working with the brand name An Lèanag, Gaelic for meadow and a reflection of the new Centre’s location opposite Mansfield Park in Partick, we set about creating a distinct brand identify before co-ordinating its application across all internal and external branding.

Creative: Our aim has been to take a traditional tenement interior and give it a contemporary look and feel in terms of colour, furniture and fabrics. For the internal fabric, the walls are painted white and we contrast this with a colour palette comprising four distinct colours. These colours are used as a feature to highlight one wall within each area and in the case of the bookshop, are used for internal signage. For the new furniture requirements, a suite of modern connected tables provide flexibility for IT and telecoms and Harris Tweed fabrics are used on the furniture and window cushions. The exterior signage features the An Lèanag brand name and support lettering in green on a cream background.

Result: An Lèanag was completed in January 2011, when tenant organisations including Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comunn na Gàidhlig, Colmcille, An Lòchran, Stòrlann and An Comunn Gàidhealach took up residency.

The Death of Direct Mail?

Well thought out and executed Direct Mail is a beautiful thing. Lets hope the planned rise in the cost of stamps from Royal Mail doesn’t put an end this method of communication.
