STV’s The Hour

Brief: STV has its HQ on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow and broadcasts to over three and a half million viewers across Scotland each week with a comprehensive range of programming to suit all audiences needs. In 2009, we were briefed to create a brand device, title sequence and all other supporting graphic elements for STV’s new daily lifestyle show, The Hour.

Creative: Working in partnership with our client at STV, we created a digital brand device to represent both the show title and as an active part of the opening title sequence. The digital concept was also applied to other graphical elements and to programme content titles representing the genres of lifestyle, health, fashion, travel and gardening. These genre titles were brought to life within the animation sequence.

Result: The Hour was launched in 2009 and was broadcast live over the full STV network at 5pm each weekday with a weekly review each Sunday. The online broadcast of The Hour featured the title sequence and the supporting graphic elements. The brand was also rolled out by STV on their dedicated microsite at stv.tv/thehour
