The Gaelic Rings l Cearcaill na Gàidhlig – Photographic Journey

Brief: The Gaelic Rings l Cearcaill na Gàidhlig is a collaborative marketing initiative developed to promote Gaelic language and culture throughout Scotland’s Hebridean islands and West Highland mainland. The proposition of The Gaelic Rings l Cearcaill na Gàidhlig is a series of round trips stretching from Islay in the south to Lewis in the north and the West Highland mainland from Kennacraig to Ullapool. As well as creating the brand, we were briefed to create a series of photographic journeys representing each of the roundtrips, or rings, and produce a promotional DVD.

Creative: The creative concept developed focuses on the ring element of the brand proposition and the aim was that each video would support the 150 page book containing the personal journey of six highly respected Scots as they travelled on their chosen ring. The photographic images were carefully selected for each journey in order to produce an accurate visual representation of the six Gaelic-rich trips. Once selected, the images were accompanied by a soundtrack from the world-famous band, Runrig. Each journey incorporated the names of the places visited, allowing the audience to follow the journey and relate to the stunning imagery. The journeys were produced in Gaelic and English and the blend of dramatic scenery and compelling music allowed us to encapsulate each journey with what Scotland’s west coast islands have to offer.

Result: We’ve received very positive feedback about the DVDs and their accurate depiction of the journeys and we’re extremely confident about the future of The Gaelic Rings l Cearcaill na Gàidhlig. All six photographic journeys can be seen on
